Guppy is a very colourful small fish. Beginner in   Bangladesh like this fish for their aquarium due to the easy-care process.  Guppy can found in natural normally Brazil and many other countries.  Most of the Aquarium shop in Chittagong and Dhaka, you can buy guppy fish.

The normal environment of Bangladesh is very suitable for a guppy. Guppy can keep with some fish but if you make only guppy aquarium, it will better.

 

Food

Guppy likes to take bloodworms, brine, daphnia. But in the town area of Bangladesh, it is not easy to collect this living food.  you can buy dried food from the Aquarium shop. Average food packet price 40 takas to 100 takas.

Need to provide the right quantity of food to Guppy. Most of the beginner provides more food. Over food gradually pollute water.

Breeding

Guppy Breeding is very easy. Female guppy can breed in every month and provides 5 to 200 baby guppy.

Inbreeding time, guppy eats a baby. For that reason, pregnant guppy needs to keep in a separate tank.

After breeding, baby guppy quickly needs to separate from mother guppy. Otherwise, the mother guppy eats them. Baby guppy keeps in a separate tank. After breeding, mother guppy needs to take 2-3 days in the separate tank alone for taking rest.

If you want to pure breed guppy, you need same spices guppy and don’t keep different types of guppy in the same tank. It creates crossbreed.

The benefit of keeping Guppy in a live planted aquarium

In a live planted aquarium, guppy can live a long time. There are several reasons for it.

In a live planted aquarium, water quality, ph, the temperature automatically adjust due to the natural environment. After breed, Baby guppy can easily go under a live plant. So that mother guppy or other matured guppy cannot eat baby guppy.

Water quality, PH, temperature

In Bangladesh, normal treated water is good for guppy where PH-6.5-7.5, Temperature-22-28 degree Celsius.No Ammonia or other gas in water. Guppy can survive more than other aquarium fish if water quality goes to poor condition.

Every day you can change 1 glass water from the tank, so that water condition remains good in a long period. Otherwise, you need to change every 10 days.

 

 

Mixing

Normally 1 male guppy and 3 female guppy is a ratio to maintain in guppy tank.

The filtration system of guppy:

For guppy, the filtration system is optional. But you need a filtration system always balance the aquarium environment. Filtration helps to increase the dissolved oxygen level in the water.

Tank size: Though in a small tank you can keep guppy, in big tank guppy can easily grow quickly. Minimum 20-litre water capacity tank needs for a guppy.

Water Heater: No need water heater in the aquarium because Bangladesh environment condition is good enough for a guppy.

Guppy diseases and care:

If water condition good, guppy has a low chance to fall in diseases. Guppy mainly attacks by bacteria and parasite. If this happens, need to change tank water quickly and also find out victim guppy and sent them in a separate tank.

If you face these types of diseases in your tank, you can buy some medicine from the aquarium shop.

Death fish is removed immediately from the tank. Otherwise guppy fish eat rot death fish and there has a strong possibility to effect in disease.

 

Baby Guppy care procedure:

Baby guppy keeps in a separate tank. Normally baby guppy doesn’t need to much care. The water tank is clean properly and fills with good quality water. Every day 2 times provide food to them. They don’t eat big food. So make food small before provide him.

Price in guppy in Bangladesh:

Guppy normally sells in pair. Every pair guppy price depends on deferent types of species and size.

Normal guppy pair sell on 30-100 taka while rare guppy pair sell on 200-1200 taka.

 

Different types of Use of Guppy in Bangladesh

Dhaka city corporation use guppy fish to control Addis Mosquito. Some people use guppy as feed for other big aquarium fish like Oscars.
